Interview with Jordan Krogman
Friday, January 23, 2009
It's been a few months since I've conducted an interview with anyone, and my sister Jordan several weeks ago requested she be interviewed again! Let's see what Lil' Sis has been up to in Vermillion, South Dakota!
Hello Jordan, how are you today?
I am great, actually! The weather was nice (in the 40's, sunny, and NOT WINDY!), so that definitely helped my mood. Plus, we're moving soon, so I'm pretty chipper about that...
What are the children doing right now?
Hudson just went to bed, and the girls might be asleep...maybe. They decided that they wanted to sleep together in a fort they created out of various boxes, but ended up kicking and screaming over whose feet were hogging all the space and who was stealing the blankets. So I put them in their beds and -- despite a few tears -- I think they may have finally given in to exhaustion.
What is Calvin doing?
He just sat down on the couch with his laptop. I'm assuming he'll check his email, read my blog (to make sure I didn't say anything nasty about him today), and play chess online for a bit. He's also got some vampire movie playing on t.v.
Word is that your family will soon be moving to a house. Is this a done deal or are you just hopeful to move?
It is absolutely a done-deal, and we are SO happy about it! We've been living in this 900-square-foot apartment (with FIVE people) for far too long. No matter how much stuff we have gotten rid of and how many times we've downsized, we just simply don't fit here anymore. Our new house will be over 3,000 square feet of sheer and utter bliss! I can't wait to start decorating and filling it with all sorts of goodies...
Will you miss the apartment?
There are certain things I will miss about living here, the biggest being that we aren't really responsible for much. We don't have to do any lawn work; we don't have to worry about snow removal or garbage; someone else takes care of any little thing that gets broken... I'll also miss a lot of my neighbors! There are certain families here who have lived next-door to us for almost 3 years now, and we've become quite good friends (the adults and the kids). Luckily, we won't be far away from anyone even after the move, so it will be easy to get together and play if we want!
How is the photography business during these cruel winter months?
You know, it's going very slowly (as expected), but that's okay by me. I got a little in over my head during the fall, booking several sessions a week. I was swamped with editing and printing, and was up very late every night trying to get it all done. I've enjoyed my little break, but I have a few sessions coming up that I'm excited about. It will be good to get back in the swing of things!
How did you do on your nursing exam?
I passed! There really isn't a percentage that you earn, or a "grade"...you either pass or fail.
Do you intend to become a nurse now, or is that a fallback plan?
Oh, no, I fully intend to be a full-time nurse. Somebody has to pay for that house! I've applied for a few different positions, one in Vermillion, and a couple in near-by towns. Hopefully I'll be employed by the end of February.
Do you know many people are reading your blog? Last I checked there were nearly 1,000 subscribers on Google Reader alone.
I honestly don't know how many people read it, but I am continually astounded by the number of hits I receive each day! I installed a stat counter on my blog just before Christmas (almost exactly a month ago...) and already I've had 11,000+ hits on my blog! Plus I have several subscribers and a handfull of followers (via blogger). What can I say, I'm just an entertaining gal!
Did you have a New Years resolution for 2009?
I didn't make any real solid commitments, but I did resolve to at least TRY to shower daily, or -- at the very least -- put on clean clothes and makeup. Sorry if that disgusts anyone out there, but when you have three kids ages 5 and under, those things tend to get pushed aside!
If you had to settle on just one, what is your all-time favorite picture you've taken?
I honestly don't know if I could choose just one. The very first one that comes to mind is this shot of Peyton from the summer of '07. It was right before her 4th birthday, and she was less-than-pleased to be playing "model" again, as you can tell by the look on her face. But the expression, the silly mis-matched outfit, the tattered sparkly shoes, the "dronkey" she's holding, the staircase...it all came together just perfectly and I've always had a soft spot for this picture.
Are there plans for more kids in the works?
Not at this point. You know...I hate to rule it out completely, as we ARE only 24 years old. Who's to say what the future might hold? (but I'm leaning toward "no"...)
When do you predict Peyton, Emmy, and Hudson will get their first cousin?
I think you and Lauren will have a baby before Alex and Ann do. I will be very bold and predict August of 2010.
Do you still think Heroes is the best show on TV?
I will lend you the first season of Dexter sometime and see if you change your mind. I can't really say that it's the BEST show on t.v, but it's the only one I am dedicated to watching. I have recently been enjoying The Big Bang Theory, which is one of the very few shows that both Calvin and I enjoy. It reminds me of Calvin and his math buddies, and I suppose that's the appeal...If Dexter is really all that you've made it out to be, maybe it's a good idea if you DON'T lend me the DVD's. I dont need to get hooked on anything else!
This question came to me while flying last weekâhave you ever flown on an actual airplane other than that crop duster at the Huron Air Show in the mid-90s?
Nope, I never ever have! I've actually not done much traveling of any kind...
What is your favorite memory from the Tae Kwon Do national tournament in DC that one summer 1996?
I remember very little about that trip aside from the horrifyingly long, painful bus ride across the country and the Puerto Rican men that we foolishly became enamored with. What is it with those Puerto Ricans?
Do you ever think you may be diseased? If so, could you figure out what you have now that you're a big shot nurse?
I am diagnosing myself with a terminal disease or a serious mental illness every single day. Calvin can attest to this. He has been keeping a spreadsheet of all of my complaints so far this year, and he plans to show it to me at the end of 2009 so we can look back on all of my made-up ailments. \
Would you ever consider writing an autobiography?
I dont think people would find it all that interesting. Plus, I can't write "serious" things...only short little blog-like things.
Well thanks for joining us today. Any closing remarks?
I feel like this wasn't a very entertaining inerview, and I'm sorry about that! Also, I have to add a link to my blog here to see just how may more faithful followers I can come up with! C'mon...all the cool kids are doing it!
See what other amazing interviews I've conducted here on the website over the years!
